80 YEARS MERVIELDE

Driven by Heart, Powered by Innovation,
Guided by Vision
Together, that’s how we flow!

Family Mervielde has always taken its social role seriously. Long before the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals of the UN) made their appearance and the ‘S’ of ESG (Environmental Social Governance) played a role in corporate policy, Mervielde has been able to support numerous charities in a discreet way. Fully in line with their tradition, the family found it appropriate to highlight 2 charities on the occasion of its 80th anniversary.

Het groene anker

This care farm in Kluizen offers a haven of peace for people with physical or mental disabilities.

The initiators Jeroen and Isabelle started a collaboration with Den Dries (now Voluit) in 2018, offering useful daytime activities for people with disabilities at the floristry.

The former floristry farm was meanwhile exchanged for a care farm where they committed to useful activities and meaningful interactions with animals and nature. These activities on the farm were expanded to include sustainable and local farming initiatives. The farm is run in collaboration with people with disabilities.

Fonds LISA

The LISA Fund provides support to talented and motivated young people with ambition who want to fulfil their dreams through higher studies but cannot achieve this on their own or with their own resources due to family or other circumstances. The LISA Fund was created in 2014 at the request of a secondary school that had to let three talented youngsters go, as the family had neither a network nor the financial means to let their children continue their studies. The girl who came from commerce, with an immigrant background, wanted to start accounting and taxation, as well as a boy, an orphan, living with his grandmother. The second girl, from the Philippines wanted to draw and become an architect.

Maroi who studied accounting and taxation, then did a bridging year and became a Master in Commercial Sciences UGent, she now works in a large international company as an internal auditor.

Wouter finished his studies in accounting and taxation and ended up at Deloitte for several years, after which he started his own independent accounting firm.

Ejoc, the Filipino girl obtained a UGent degree in civil engineering architecture and works at a dredging company.

These are the first three young talents, out of 52, who have graduated in the meantime.

Currently, a total of 91 students are being supported. In addition to financial support, each student is assigned a coach, godfather or godmother. He/she actively follows the student throughout the entire study period; not only in their studies but also in terms of well-being, so that the young person can finish his/her studies carefree.
